BLOG – Don’t be bullied into buying. Just. Say. No. (2 minute read)

Savvy shoppers know exactly what they are buying. They think before they buy and only make a purchase when they are absolutely and completely satisfied that they are getting what they really want and need.

The Underspent Challenge for the last week of September is to be a Savvy Shopper and Say NO!

It’s easy. Just say No! Or, say “No, Thank you”.

In the western world it’s often more acceptable to be polite, than to be honest. This results in us saying ‘Yes’ and buying things that we don’t need, don’t want and can’t afford because we find it impossible to say ‘No’.

We end up buying things we don’t want and spending money we don’t have simply because we’re too embarrassed to say ‘No’. And then, we walk away from the situation feeling annoyed, angry, weak, foolish and vulnerable.

How many times has this happened to you?

It happens to absolutely everyone. It happens too often. It’s intimidating. We go to the shops to purchase item A and then the shop assistant tries to sell us items A, B and C. “Would you also like this with it” they say.

Don’t be bullied into buying – EVER. Next time someone tries to sell you something that you don’t want just say “No”. Don’t worry about what they say about you – Be the person you want to be.

So, the Underspent Challenge for September – the final week of September – is to be a Savvy Shopper for 7 days and Say NO!

Keep a list of how many times you say “No. You could also keep a list of the things you don’t buy.

Will you give it a go? Share your successes. I love hearing your stories.
