Household debt – our spending is the real issue

Australian household debt – our out-of-control spending is the real issue

It’s our out-of-control spending that’s the real issue when it comes to household debt. Office workers tell me they can easily spend $25 a day on take-away coffees, food and snacks, that’s $7,200 a year. To break my impulse shopping addiction and habit of buying ‘stuff’, I set up 11 bank accounts to replicate the jam-jar system my grandmother used, to keep cash for different household bills. We’re spending money we don’t have, on stuff that we don’t want or need. So how can you quit the habit?
