We’re spending 20% of our income on transport

We’re spending almost 20% of our income on car loans and transport

A new Australian Automobile Association Transport Affordability Index shows Brisbane families spend more than $19,000 a year in transport costs, representing 17% of total household income.
The typical Brisbane two-car household spends $377 a week ($54 a day) on transport. Car loan payments cost us $123.80 a week ($18 a day).
Rachel Smith, Author of Decongestion and Underspent said the solutions for Aussie families include selling the 2nd car, working at home one or two days a week where possible, car-pooling with family and friends, using public transport and walking for short trips.
